A carpet of tall scurf-pea Cullen australasicum, foodplant of the Chequered Swallowtail
growing along the floodplain of the inland Palmer River after rain and flooding

Fertile egg of the Chequered Swallowtail.  Newly laid eggs are pale yellow

Final fifth instar larvae feeding on a tall scurf-pea.  The orange larva has just moulted from the fourth instar. 
The orange colour will gradually change to green as the larva completes the final instar stage,
and the green larva illustrated is the stage immediately before pupation.
